It is clear that the computing speed in the personal computer of today steadily picked up steam since the market began. Many wonder when our technology start to taper, but after a man named Gordon Moore, we 're only beginning to tap the potential of what we can do with our computer systems.
Gordon Moore was co-founder of the popular brand Intel. In addition to this significant title, Moore is famous for its assertion of what is known as Moore's Law. In April 1965 edition of Electronics magazine, Moore has his opinions about semiconductors:
"The complexity for minimum component costs has at a rate of about a factor of two per year ... Certainly over the short term this rate can be expected to continue, if not increase. In the longer term, the increase is a little uncertain, but there is no reason to believe that it will not remain nearly constant for at least 10 years. This means that by 1975, the number of components per integrated circuit for minimum cost will be 65,000. I believe that such a large circuit can be viewed on a single wafer. ""
Sure, if he says it, Moore had no idea how important his claim was. The declaration was to the heart by a Caltech professor by the name of Carver Mead, which synchronizes the faith "" Moore's Law. "In 1975, Moore said he believed his equation also remains valid, except for the fact that for 2 years for a doubling of computing power. His statement was adopted on the basis of what he had seen on the market so far and what he predicted it to be done. The announcement has actually helped to push scientists to pursue and achieve the target over the years. Of course, the producers were meeting this goal. However, questions arise about the validity of the theory in the coming years. Moore himself has stated that the size of the transistors, we can not build much smaller unless we find an important method for modification of the process. He believes that remains we will continue to progress for the next 10 to 20 years after the same sentence, but is curious about where computing can there. On Moore's sentence, it would be in the position of the processing machines of 100 gigahertz of information per second in our house as quickly as 10 years from now.
