The law of common fate is one of four laws of visual perception than the theory of Gestalt psychologists. Paul Martin Lester, author of Visual Communication, an expert in the field wrote:" The fourth law of Gestalt psychology is the right of the common destiny. Viewer mentally group five arrows or five hands at the sky, because they are all in the same direction. An arrow or a hand pointed in the opposite direction is tension because the audience does not see it as part of the upward directed entirely. ""

Gestalt law of common fate is a fairly simple concept. It is essentially on visual directional lines in a design or layout. In one photo, if two or more people are moving in the same direction, they have a directional line known as the law of common fate. Together, they have a common destiny or fate. Another example of the law of common fate could also similar forms, in the same direction. You might wonder why the law of common fate is important for the artists. Especially when two objects (irrespective of whether they are organic shapes or forms) are pointed in the same direction in a layout, the directional lines of a dominant position in a design. So, if two or more powerful forms are aimed at or in a certain direction, an artist knows, the message at the destination.

Directional lines to express our eyes to one side. This can be a problem, just as much as a bonus. For example, visual collision frustrate the viewing audience. It can cause too much tension and anxiety for the reader, which makes the layout and too little intense.

If an open photo from a moving vehicle position on the right side of the law of common fate dictated that the directional line is on the right side. Therefore, if a car is on the right side (on a screen), the image of the car should be on the left side of a layout, because our eyes from left to right. This is the reason why the law of common fate is so important. The law of common fate should not be disregarded in graphic design and advertising. Understanding the law of common fate, and how directional layout lines can work make the difference, such as information read and understood.
